Bay of Islands Activities and Adventures
There are many great activities to try when staying at Apple B&B accommodation near Pahia and Haruru.
The Bay of Islands is a maritime park with 144 islands contained in it. It is home to the old village of Russell, a quaint whaling town that almost became New Zealand's capital. Just across the bay is Pahia where all the boating adventures begin. Swim with the dolphins, scuba or snorkel, or if you prefer go fishing and sailing. Take a day trip out to Hole in the Rock. Spend a day at the historic Waitangi Treaty grounds or rent a kayak and paddle to Haruru Falls.
Northland's weather is subtropical. The rich soil is volcanic and produces a vast array of produce. Orchards and vineyards abound. There's no lack of waterfalls or pools under them to swim in. Old growth forests with short or long day treks are close by. There are several golf courses to choose from.
APPLE B and B is at the center of all that Northland has to offer. An easy day trip up to Cape Reinga, the very tip of New Zealand, where the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea come together. A beautiful and powerful sight! No wonder that so many tourists from all over the world come to see it. On your way back drive down Ninety Mile Beach and skim the waters edge with your tyres.
You will find country fresh produce at the Weekend markets, along with local arts and crafts. Stop by the old Stone Store. First trading post in the country that still sells quality New Zealand made products. Several world class artists make their Galleries open to the public. You could come back again and again and still find new adventures and activities. The foodie will find everything from fine dining to fish and chips. Fresh local ingredients will be served up at the local vineyards as well as a fine selection of wines. Come and visit us in the "Winterless North" and see for yourself what a beautiful paradise this is.
